Note from Author: My family had just moved to a great neighborhood in Glendale, WI when our doorbell rang. As I opened the door, I was greeted with one of the biggest smiles I have ever seen, ‘Hi! Welcome to the neighborhood, my name is Hannah..I made this for you. Please enjoy’ In the outstretched arms of this smiling person, was a beautifully golden crusted loaf of challah bread….still steaming and warm, fresh from the oven. Yes- it tasted just as good as it sounds..
My family has been a fan of Hannah and her catering business Hannah’s Kitchen since. So now folks, it’s your turn…...Meet Hannah!
Who is Hannah Sattler?
I am a mom to three little girls, I have a large network of friends and love going out and having fun with my friends when I have time off from being a mom. I enjoy being active and hope to get back to my running, bikram yoga and other physically challenging sports.
What Makes you laugh?
My daughter Miriam makes me laugh. She is always so full of energy and smiles!
When did you start cooking?
When did you know that you wanted to be a chef? I started cooking when I graduated college and wanted to cook for myself at home, to be more aware of what I was putting in my body. I started cooking in a commercial kitchen 7 years ago at my synagogue as a volunteer, and I enjoyed getting to be a part of being a part of people's events.
Do you children like your cooking?
My children like my cooking (at least I don't hear complaints) and have been a bit spoiled over the years. My oldest is a more adventurous eater, and loves when I prepare Thai food. My middle daughter loves my pizza, and my youngest...well, it depends on the day since she is a toddler, but her current favorite is Mexican quinoa.
What is the most important thing to do when cooking for others?
When cooking for others you want to take into account their tastes and likes, and gear the menu towards their preferences.
How has your faith played a role in the dishes you prepare?
I have a love of Traditional Jewish food that we do not often see people making. It's important that we learn from the older generations so we don't lose some of those traditions.
What's your favorite candy?
I love almost any candy, but Crunch-a-Bunch and Milky Ways are my favorites.
What food do you totally dislike? I will try any food, I think you can learn to have a taste for any food by trying things, But I will say Quesadillas are not something I will eat, though I make them. It just not my thing.
